The Children’s Sports was excellent with Boys & girls doing us very proud in all areas.

Well done

Thanks go especially to Stan, John, Keith, Dave and Chris for helping put teams together with little persuasion and making my job easier. Very well done to all the North Yorkshire ralliers who took part and for their support.

A cold day for the sports was more like November than June.
Disappointing turn out of children who attended the rally but for those who braved the chilly day and wind thoroughly enjoyed themselves regardless.

Joint Yorkshire Sports

What a result! We won the ladies volleyball, the Gents and the Teenage Volleyball.

This is a goal or should I say Gold that I have been waiting for - The training in the park/Rainbow Centre and the practice matches rallies is certainly paying off. Thanks to everyone who plays, helps and supports us.

The standard of play is obviously better than ever and I am sure that East Yorkshire and Mid-West who are good teams will be looking out for us at Northern Centres this year, but to keep up the good work, we need new members to the team and more challenge matches. If anyone is interested regardless of ability please contact me.

SPORTS REPORT NATIONAL RALLY 2010

Firstly a huge thank you to everyone who took the time and trouble to attend the National Rally and to support the Centre, either by competing or by supporting the teams and competitors.

We were able to enter teams in the following events:  Five-a-side football (13-16), Volleyball, Family Lawn Darts, 2 teams in Petanque and a Quiz team.  I think this was quite good going from only 26 vans.

The main results are as follows:  Family Lawn Darts Team – Runners-up.  This was a superb achievement as neither the child or teenager had played lawn darts previously, so well done and thank you to Gwennen Thomas, Scarlett Drury, Janet and Merve Griffiths.
Dave Gregory and Len Dargue were quarter-finalists in the petanque.  Unfortunately North Yorkshire’s teams met in the previous round.
The quiz team reached the 3rd round of their competition.
The 5-a-side football team and the volleyball team went out in the early rounds, but a big thank you to them for turning out in some pretty awful rain on the Saturday morning.

I would also like to thank Ruth Thomas and Merve Griffiths for umpiring some of the volleyball matches; the organiser really appreciated their help.

Congratulations must go to Keira Morrigan on achieving 2nd place in the junior baking competition.

Thank you once again for your help and support.
