North Yorkshire Centre AGM and Committee elections in October 2010 (19/07/10)
As you all know the committee was one elected member short at the AGM in 2009 and since has lost another member of committee due to a change in personal circumstances. Your current committee have done a fantastic job this year in carrying out all of the usual centre business whilst being two members short and I thank them for that. Early indications suggest that some of the current committee may not stand for re-election and new committee members may be needed.
If you feel that you can bring something to the centre or offer some expertise or even just be a willing hand, please consider putting your name forward for election onto the committee. Ask any Officer or committee member for details, procedures etc: other than that all necessary details are in your handbook. Committee meetings take place once every month, apart from August and you will be reimbursed for your travelling expenses.
It is increasingly difficult to run the centre when you are short-handed and especially when the centre is preparing a celebration rally and due to host Joint Yorkshire Sports in 2012.
Please don’t leave it to those few, usual, willing people who give up large amounts of time and effort free, to organise a programme of events for your enjoyment.
I personally would love to see you involved with committee and centre activities and thank you for your present support and possibly, your support in the near future.

Rally Marshal Team For the celebration Rally, Easter 2012 (19/07/10)
The current centre committee is asking for an expression of interest from any centre member(s) or couples who are willing to act as the Rally Officers for the above rally, experience suggest that a team of 3 people or couples may be needed. Those who apply should have experience in running a large rally, as we are expecting to attract 400+ caravans and have other members who are willing to help them (Assistant rally officers), and form part of the working party etc:
This vacancy is available to any centre member and application should be made in writing to the secretary by Friday 1st October 2010. The selection of the rally officers team will then be made by the new committee following the AGM.

The Parklands Romanby rally (26/05/10)
has had to be cancelled as the landowner claimed no knowledge of a booking for our centre (even after he sat in my caravan last year and agreed a price and date). He has of course developed the site into a caravan park for 20 vans, charging £12.50 per van per night which he eventually said we could rally there at the new price. Given the short notice and double cost I thought this unreasonable and said no.
I have, since this episode, negotiated a new rally venue at Northallerton Football Club on Ainderby Road, to the south of the town. They have asked for a slightly higher van fee and the new rally fee for the weekend will be £16.65. June and I will ring the 21 people who are booked onto the rally and ask them if they still want to attend the rally.
The route for the new site is: Normal route to Northallerton, continue south through town centre following the A167 on Boroughbridge Road. At roundabout turn right onto A684 towards Morton on Swale and Leeming Bar. In approx 500m turn right onto Ainderby Road and the entrance is on the left in 200m. Postcode is DL7 8HA.
Sorry for any inconvenience but I hope this new venue and revised cost is acceptable to you all.

Head of Steam Rally Now 10-12th September (12/05/10)
Due to double booking by the land-owner, this rally has had to be postponed to September 10th-12th. Although this has caused some inconvenience, the revised dates include the “Heritage Weekend”. This means that as well as having free access to the railway museum, we will be able to join guided tours.
As these tend to fill-up quickly, the staff will inform us as soon as the timetables have been arranged, so that ralliers will have the first opportunity to book. Please indicate on your booking slips at “Social tickets” by writing “museum guided tour-1” (or 2 or however many)
As well as this museum, Darlington Civic Theatre will be having “Behind the scenes” tours. We will let you have more details on this and other “Heritage” events as soon as we can obtain details from Tourist Information.
Paul and Margaret Cockrill
All other details as in the events handbook.
